I was surfing through the World Wide Web the other day and I happened to be on this Thai website. (read: Not porn hor.) I wanted to brush up my Thai language so I was there. The webmaster posted this video hosted on YouTube which caught my eye.
It was about a deaf girl trying to learn how to play the piano. I seriously recommend it. (read: I cried.) Really inspiring. But at the end of it, it was a Pantene commercial in Thai.
I love this Canon In D Major piece. With its violin, its a killer.
WATCH IT!

Random Thoughts
Darn it. I missed you Gracie.
No amount can describe this feeling. I'm leaving for Thailand tomorrow okay. Leave me a message on my number if you're reading this okay. I missed you sooo much.
I'm going crazy. Too much work to leave behind but yet my mind is begging for me to stop and rewind.
I guess I deserve this getaway even though its only for 5 days. I'm coming back to work on the 26th of Dec. No fair!. I'm having half-day leave on the 29th, 30th and 31st of Dec. 1st Jan holiday, 2nd Jan OFF all the way till 4th Jan. I'm coming back to work on 5th Jan and that is when I'm left with 5 more months to ORD! LAO JIAO ah!. Dun play play with experienced soldiers hor, I can siam more arrows and tekan people anyhow more than a General. wahhahah.
General is not big f*ck hor. It is the 3-letter word which is O-R-D. Haven't get civilian pink IC is still called 'boy' hor. So you see those rank high-high one hor is called 'Big Boy'. Not Man.
But for now, all I get is, "F*ck you understand. You still got 5 months left."
THAT'S LIFE IN ARMY, BITCH! SUCK IT UP!. I guess all those bitches from CD or police are really cursing themselves coz they ain't real men. REAL MEN go jungle and fight and freaking march 20+km of hell's highway. Or climb Peng Kang Hill (Elephant Hill). Or do Basic Close Combat Training Centre.
Or the champion part, go and do topography and walk past a swamp which states with big and concise words, "BEWARE OF CROCODILES".
On the contrary, if I do spot one, I'll just lie down coz with the load I'm carrying, I'd be better off dying a quick death. How the heck are you gonna run with a 30kg fieldpack and a weapon? Think about it..... We're just too tired to run, too tired to think. That's a real MAN, not holding pistols and serving peasants who can't appreciate what the men in green do. All we get when we board the bus is, 'Ewww, so smelly.'
Eh auntie!!, you know who the f*ck I die for if a war comes? This nice and beautiful nation and you!? Where the f*ck will you be? Probably somewhere in Australia sucking a Kangaroo's ass!! Damnit auntie, go and piss yourself off.
God, I'm feeling depressed.
No, its not post-war syndrome. And I feel just fine.
Happy Holidays to me.
If you ever feel lonely, do feel free to give me a message at
Nine, Two, Five, Two, Five, Nine, One, Six.
if you want me to get 'something' for you. But of course, No Money No Talk. OK? =)
No, I'm joking. My flight is at 10:15am tomorrow at Terminal 1.

No Title
What am I doing online now? I can't sleep. I'm supposed to be up at 5am later.
I've been thinking. I missed her alot, yet she doesn't seem to notice. Everytime I tell her that, she just shrugs it off.
Ohh well.
1)Open mouth
2) Put right thumb in
3) Suck
4) Wait for Pink IC in June '09
I can't do much now that I'm still in service. I lost substantially in life to my female peers.
Ask not what the country can do for you. Ask rather what you can do for the country.
Screw it. What has the country done for me!? I can't join the air force nor the navy. Freaking politics.
Now listening: Rob Thomas - Little Wonders (Meet The Robinsons soundtrack)
But after I watched the movie, Meet The Robinsons, the last quote inspired me.
"Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things… and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”
- Walt Disney
I will work hard to realise my dreams. At all costs. As long as I'm still living and breathing. Behold.....The strength of the human spirit, unrivalled by even the strongest man in the world.

BEWARE OF FOUL LANGUAGE AHEAD!
I apologize but I had to let this steam off.
Today, initially, I didn't want to talk about today. But I have to somehow. It was really a bad day. One of the most baddest days I had in that camp.
We were literally prostituted in such a very rough manner. We had some minor, minor mistakes but it had contributed to a large scale minor mistakes. So, naturally, our boss came down.

The Top Of The Desk
I've had a rough week last week.
Today, I'm going to reveal a very revealing picture. That is, My Computer Desktop.

The Audi R8. I'm in love with this baby right here. I wanna buy one for $500,000.
About the desktop, I like to keep it clean but there's the occasional dumping of files on the desktop and shortcuts.
I'm in love with a car! Oh my..... just look at those sleek rims, those front headlights, the killer body curves. I will just swoon and ogle if an R8 drives past. I saw a few of them here in Singapore. Awww man. Its engine sound gives me orgasmic pleasure.... but wait, that's gonna be disgusting. I'll be like a little boy again and I'll go like, "Eh, look look look!!! AUDI R8!!!!" while grinning to myself. And to top it all, it really has a nice ass.
I'm gonna work like there's no tomorrow and I'll just wanna buy this car. No car else!
I SIMPLY LOVE THIS CAR!!!!
I just feel like buying one now. Really, I do. SGD$500,000. WOW!...
Most probably I'll sleep in the car too if its big enough. Thank you Audi, for producing such a nice car, but its just simply too costly the price tag.
My desktop nice hor? =)

Emotions Run Deep In Still Waters
I've not been in a good mood recently. Anything and everything just ticks me off. I can't help it. Its the mood that drives me insanely mad and I'm trying to keep things calm.
I guess I have been so adamant about it, I was unwilling to let go.
And since when have I turned so emotional!?!!?
I guess that makes me human too. I hate it when I feel like so powerless. So does everybody else.
I've also noticed, I tend to be really emotional at the end of the year. Hopefully, things will be better after I take a nice, long break. Like for example, my schedule for December 2008.
17th Dec: PM LEAVE
18th Dec - 23rd Dec: Overseas Leave (I'll be in Bangkok!)
24th Dec: PM Half Day (Eve of PH)
25th Dec: OFF
26th Dec: FULL DAY LEAVE
27th Dec: OFF
28th Dec: OFF
29th Dec: PM LEAVE
30th Dec: PM LEAVE

I'm really looking forward to December. There's no duty for me too! Thank God. So I can have a peaceful end of the year. And when 5th January comes. 5 MORE MONTHS TO ORD!

O-R-D LOHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ORD FFI
Dental FFI

Maybe there's the CCC?? (Civilian Conversion Course)
Sign clearance form
Down PES Status to maybe C9L9 or better E9L9. Then I would say, "I KENG, YOU DIDN'T!, R-O-D LOHHH!!" (Run Out Date)
The ideal permanent excuses,
1) Excuse outfield
2) Excuse uniform (which also means Excuse boots)
3) Excuse stay-in
4) Excuse RMJ (Running, Marching, Jumping)
5) Excuse stairs
6) Excuse upper & lower limb
And lastly, EXCUSE ME! wahahahahahahahahaha.
That simply means, no reservist which means more time to make money and babies. (Ok, I really meant the former is better. Ok lah, both good ok!)
Okay, I need to stop talking nonsense and get to bed. Tomorrow 24-hr duty lah. Sian. Then Thursday morning I got HQ Cohesion at Chevrons which is at Jurong. like WTF!?

Sick, Sick, Sick Again
I caught a flu and cough the last 2 days. It must've been the slightly deranged weather pattern. On Tuesday afternoon, my nose was like an open tap, leaking water. My body temp remained the same. My nose was blocked; stuffy.
Yesterday night, I couldn't sleep. I couldn't breathe properly, because of the irritating blocked nose so I had to breathe through the mouth, it was very uncomfortable. I started to have very weird but vivid dreams even though my sleep was on and off.
Firstly, I dreamt that I had to take exams back in school when I had already graduated. I remembered, I missed Monday's papers which were Java and my Japanese language papers. Tuesday was IN3D and some networking subject. In that dream I was at TP's INT School, below concourse outside of ITAS canteen. I can't remember who I saw, it was some lady, dressed in a blue top and a white flowery skirt, she was entering a black Mercedes E200. The face was blurred like it was like some censored movie. I jolted up from the bed, I started to think that was all very surreal. It was.
I went back to sleep, I dreamt that I was graduating with my degree in NTU then. I was so happy, that I had proposed this same girl earlier on to marry me!! Unbelievable.
I woke up again, saw the time, it was 4:45am.
After that, I had half-sleep and half-awake holding my phone waiting to sound off its alarm at 5.30am.
The dreams were so vivid, for a moment, I could feel my heart jumping because I had missed 2 papers on that Monday. I was holding that same paper, like a semester timetable. The thing was that, the paper was also blue. It all felt so, so real. I woke up panicking.
Now that the flu has gone, its the cough that refuses to go away. I've been coughing the whole day. Must've been the cold weather. This morning, I felt so cold, I didn't fold up my smart 4 and the air-con was up to 24 degrees Celcius.
The polyclinic doc gave me 1 day of MC and another day of light duties which was of no use. I still had to do sentry. No difference. What a day! My throat itches all day. I don't have the appetite to eat. And I'm thinking Gracie.
I wanna hug her so much! =)

To Gracie, With Love
She knows I would do anything for her. Why am I not content? Maybe because I expected too much that I can't see what's coming? Or is it because I'm being too egoistical and cynical that she simply can't understand me?
Well, whatever it is. I know, I love her. You know when you get the feeling that she is the one?
No wait, love is blind. But wait, love makes a person blind. Or maybe I was blind to start with. You know the relationship is tested through hard times, and however bad it might be, it just seemed to bounce back up again.
Take for, say, a rubber band. In its new state, often it would be seasonly-stretched before it would be put to good use. Just that when it contracts back, it will never be the same. In fact, it would be tougher than when it was first produced.
I know we have our differences, I'm willing to compromise. Are you?
Different religion, different language. It seemed like an unlikely match don't you think?
I'm not so much of going into make it all to work, it isn't called a relationship if there's only one hand doing all the work.
To put it, honestly, its hard for me to find a girl that I really adore, care and respect altogether. But when I do find one, its hard to let go. I've grown to like you the more I think of you. Its just that you don't know that everytime I think of you, the wind blows telling me you're somewhere over the horizon waiting.
I face the complexity of life at its very peak through the day's work. Though everyday is a new challenge for me, there would not be a dull moment with you in my mind. It gives me the motivation, courage to spur through the day's endeavor.
To Gracie, I Love You.

Happy 21st Birthday!!!
Happy 21st birthday to me!
I had to wake up 4.45am to pick up Sudiani, Firdaus, Yo in Tampines and Fadh at Woodlands. We had to reach Jurong West at 7.30am. It was an insane trip. Sharil and Poon reached and we had a convoy of 1 car and 2 motorbikes. We reached at around 7am near the stadium. I had paid about $4 worth of parking coupons!! Another insane thing, tsk tsk.
We had some kind of sports day for CSSCOM's 2nd anniversary. Not what I had expected from a 3rd-generation Army but well, it was pretty boring.
We waited, slacked the whole morning till 12pm. We decided to just go out since i believe that almost 60% of the 3,000 strong crowd had went away!
The 7 of us decided to celebrate my birthday at Secret Recipe in Anchorpoint which is at Queensway. I drove the 5 of us including Sudiani, Firdaus, Fadh and Fang Tao. Thomas ORD LOH! haha.
Sharil and Poon took their bikes.
The staff there gave me a slice of their premium cake, which was heavenly! but I couldn't finish it because I was so full!! duh~
And I sent all of them home. My sister's gave me a box of chocolates which is kinda nice too!
And finally, all the SMSes and Facebook wishes.
Thanks to all:- (in no order of preference)
My family & relatives, My NS buddies (Sudiani, Fadhlullah, Firdaus, Poon Yan, Sharil, Fang Tao), Gracie, Aida, Nisa, Shirley, Raymond, Sheila, Cherry, Elvira, Joshua, Peng Keong, Daphne, Lily, Nadia, Yisheng, Eugene, Kai Ling, Kak Huda and Xuan Kai.
I wonder what happened to some of them though. Oh well.
Says alot about a person who doesn't remember's his/her friends birthdays. =)
But I'm not letting that ruin the day!.
Tomorrow I'm going to celebrate my birthday with my secondary schoolmates.
I had to be content with just her voice on the phone. It really isn't what I had expected but she was a real sweetie to have called in to wish me. And she gave me a red ferrari keychain knowing I like cars and I love the colour red. I'd sure miss you alot.
Thank you so much baby. =)
I had to wake up 4.45am to pick up Sudiani, Firdaus, Yo in Tampines and Fadh at Woodlands. We had to reach Jurong West at 7.30am. It was an insane trip. Its About Time Too
Time took a rocket ship this week. I took 3 days of leave to spend time with little miss Gracie. The really bad news is that I'm on near broke. With the car expenses and all. Darn it. I have to eat grass this month. I'm left with a 2-digit sum on my expenses account.
That's so uncool. So now I have to limit on what I spend.
Its been a too hectic week. I'm living on with only like 4 hours of sleep everyday. How miserable on the eve of my 21st birthday. Oh, I'm 21 already?
Ya, well. I so had wanted to make a chalet and bbq.
No matter, I've got off tomorrow, but I so have to go to the CSSCOM's 2nd Anniversary. It's at Jurong West and it's so very far can? Petrol not cheap leh.
On a sidenote,
"One night, my missus asked me to take her to the most expensive place here. So I took her to the petrol station."
I feel miserable. I just feel like it. I can't seem to express it though. I need to listen to calm music. Please..... I don't wanna blow someone's head off in Grand Theft Auto 4. I've got no mood.
Now Listening: Aiko Kayo - Kokoro no Wakusei
Ohh well. Happy 21st Birthday to me. =)

Nice Things In Life Are Worth Getting
Somebody asked me to describe myself. And there I was mouth hanging and my fingers froze.
So, therefore! I've decided to come up with a list of things that I prefer so you may judge me better. The type of accesories and brand names.
Firstly, I don't wear headgear. So I'll skip that.
Shades: Police, Hugo Boss
Shirt: Montagut, Ralph Lauren Polo
Tie: Jean Mercier
Cologne: Ralph Lauren Polo Blue, Hugo Boss Orange, Luciano Soprani
Watch: Omega, Timex, Rado, Fossil
Mobile: Sony Ericsson
MP3 Player: Sony
Underpants: Byford, CK
Trousers: Levis, Diesel
Belt: Goldlion, Timberland
Wallet: Braun Buffel
Socks: SAF white socks (standard issue) =P
Shoes: Puma
---
Oh, and I so like the Audi, Maserati and Aston Martin. I feel that their cars have a sense of style.
For motorbikes, I absolutely love the Aprilia RSV4, Suzuki Hayabusa, Ducati Desmosedici.

I'm very expensive.

I'm exhausted. I just feel so tired today.
And today was such a bad day. It was such a really bad day.

Dou Shio Kana?
I cannot believe it. I didn't blog for almost a month! So many things to say too!
First up, the most recent event. Combat Shoot I. Its 10 more points to getting that Marksman badge and that $200 but alas, our team messed up during the night shoot. The shoot wasn't easy, I had to zero my weapon twice; using 8 mags! Turned out I turned the dial wrongly on the M16 rifle foresight tip. However, my team did great. I was in the first lane, Chee was in the second lane, third lane was empty, fourth lane was the MP from Stagmont Camp, fifth lane was the officer from 8 Sig and his storeman was at the sixth lane. 31 points to get Marksman. I didn't get the final score but upon guessing, i think i got about 28? DUSH!!!!
Second on the events calendar was the outing with my NS buddies. FUN!! HAHA!! We went around town to window-shop but we're really buying to prepare for the CSSCOM dinner on the 14th of November.
Third was the Hari Raya outing with the same bunch of people.
I bought the Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 Premium Edition. Shaved my bank balance by $119. But it was worth it. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS GAME!!!
I like strategy games. =)
I'm waiting to buy Resistance 2, Tom Clancy: End War and Fallout 3 for my PlayStation 3. And Rock Band 2!! And I wanna buy Guitar Hero!
So much for games. I'm just in a mood for games.
That aside, there's quite a few birthdays this month. My cousin's, my sister's, Raymond's, Syaf's, Shellen's, Sudiani's and my aunt's.
AND MINE TOO! and Elvira's and Mr. Joshua's birthday. We share the same birthday! =)
I'm turning 21 soon. Celebrate the coming of age or mourn the lost of youth? I'm having mixed feelings. My 20th year here was really a roller-coaster ride emotionally and physically.
Now here come's the most important part,
6 more months to ORD LOH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can smell my pink IC. SMELL IT......MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!. 050609. ORD! ORD! FASTER COME.
I'll be spending some time with Gracie. She's mine for next week. =)
She's a sleepy princess; always wanting to sleep but ending not sleeping at all. The cutiepie ain't so cute anymore with those eye bags. hahhahah. But she's still as sweet as ever.
Okay, I really need to sleep.
Oyasuminasai!.

Mummy's Birthday
Its Mummy's birthday!!! She's 44
She had a 'open house' for all relatives. After I got back to Tampines, I stopped by Swensen's at Tampines Mall and bought a 1kg ice-cream cake. And guess what, when i asked one of the staff, "Could you have some words written on the cake
The reply was, "Oh, we need 1 day in advance to write on the cake"
I'm like, "You need 1 whole day to write a name?!, then its okay, i'll just have the cake." Sounding surprised.
I've never in my life bought ice-cream that is $40. This is the first. But it looked so pretty that I didn't have the heart to eat it. Hahah!
And I took the cab back home. Rich huh?
This is my $40 cake. Not that I'm complaining. Its for my Mummy anyway.

Turns out that there's another cake. But there were 3 cakes. Here's why.

Impressive huh? I thought so too. A 2-tier cake!!!! NICE!
She's celebrating her birthday with my cousin who shares the same birthday and my aunt which is earlier in the month too. It was nice seeing all my cousins again! =)

A Million Of Gratitude
The first week of Hari Raya is over. My family and I and my aunts and cousins went to visit the graves of our long-missed loved ones at Jalan Bahar this morning.
There's this mixed feeling of remorse, serenity *strangely*, and a resolve. That is the last place you would ever go after your last breath.
My maternal grandmother, she passed away a day before my 11th birthday. My great grandfather passed away on my parent's wedding anniversary. My maternal grandfather passed away on my mum's brother's birthday.
Such a coincidence.
Just this evening, while I was cruising in the car alone, my MP3 player played Hero by Enrique Iglesias. It reminded of how fragile and precious a person's life is. Would you remember a person after his death? Or treasure his presence while he was still alive? Or only to find shattered pieces of words that you would've told him if he could only wake up for a second?
Honestly, I find the latter tragic.
If I could tell my great grandmother anything, I would like to really thank her for bringing me up through my childhood. Bringing in much joy and happiness that I could not have imagined without her. She taught me the rules of life. How to be a great and generous person.
Thank you grandmother.
And this song also goes to this wonderful and charming person I met named Gracie. If you happen to come across this blog and read it;
I Love You Baby. =)
Here's a video clip of the song 'Hero' by Enrique Iglesias.

Happy Happy Raya
Its been so long that I've nearly forgotten I've got a blog. But honestly, there's like tons of work waiting to be done. I couldn't help it.
As if standing in the hot sun isn't bad enough. tsk tsk.
So its Hari Raya Puasa already! oh yay! but I didn't wake up for morning prayers! I was supposed to go with my dad but he went alone. so ummm. i'm being a pig lah by staying (spelt S-L-E-E-P-I-N-G) at home. NS does that. All I think about is sleep but then my body simply refuses to shut down.
That aside, I don't really feel like celebrating because, as per last year and this year, I didn't quite fast the whole month. So? Not worth celebrating yah? NS does that. But I know, they're excuses.
Being an adult (spelt O-L-D), I was obliged to take the ang-pows. Really?. Really. Take only lah, people give already.
And thanks for the people who wished me and the people I wished.

Hello You!
She's a nice girl and often she would deny it. I've always wondered why.
She's nice, simple, pretty, smart. I like her.
She's the girl next door type of girl. She doesn't know that. She's an adorable girl too. The thing is she's like a few years older, not really that old I guess, not more than 5 years older. okay? hah. And she's always saying, 'I'm your older sister!'.
We often argue, playfully of course. And the way she says, 'Whatever...', when she rolls her eyes, such a cutie. heh. Of course I heard that. =P
I just have this thing for angry women. Fetish. haha. They're so adorable when they are venting steam. Not all are, mind you.
To me, she's like this sweet, innocent angel. Its nice for a change from Singaporean girls; they're the stereotypical type and the kind you-see-everyday. She's something fresh and new. A fiesty girl too.
Women..... -_-"
And like that time I was sick, well obviously, you can't tell whether a person is sick or tired through a text message. We had that kind of 'telepathy' powers. Cool right?
And she's always telling me to sleep!! Countless times. She sounds like my mom when I was in primary school.
I'm well-trained not to sleep for 5 days during SISPEC. School of Infantry Specialist. =P
I love talking to her. Sometimes, we talk too much until she says, 'Let's not talk for 1 whole week.' And for good reason too. I feel that we had been talking a month's worth of talking into 1 day.
She's perfect!

Calm, Peace, Tranquility
During the month of Ramadhan, my heart always felt calm, amicable, peaceful and almost impervious. It's always been like this throughout the years. I just feel so.... tranquil; never troubled.
Ask yourself this, "Why am I living such an extravagant life but my heart is filled with the angst of the world?"
Peace comes to those who show goodwill. I believe.
In an inspirational show that I watched on television on Suria, there's this old lady, she's 82 years old. She wakes up at 2am everyday, prepares some foodstuff to be sold at a stall nearby. How many 82 year-olds do you know do that? I'd bet almost none. She earns as little as $10 a day but contented. And yet, she's able to live probably her last few years of her life to the fullest.
In another case, a husband and wife, where the husband is a cripple late in life and the wife cared for her husband.
She said, "If we were to die, I would like my children to just remember their father, don't have to remember me. He is the one who wakes up everyday in the past working and toiling through the day just to keep the children in school and to provide for them."
As I listened, I silently aspired to continue working hard, regardless of the difficulties faced. I may not have my own family now but I still have my parents and my sisters. And I will forever treasure them deep in my heart. I may seem like a person who bears no sense of affection and that's because I don't show my affection to just anyone.
I wrote down a list and kept it in my wallet:
As a husband, I will be devoted, loyal and faithful.
As a father, I will be firm, just and dutiful.
As a son, I will be caring, tactful and filial.
As a brother, I will be compassionate, fun-loving and virtuous.
---
This will be my life guide; Aayatul Kursi. The Throne Verse.

Ameen.

The Good Sport
I'm feeling better already. Cough is gone, running nose still persistent at times. But I'm well enough, thanks. =)
Yesterday, me and the boys(NS buddies) went to Simpang Bedok to have a little chat. It lasted the whole night and morning! There was me, Sudiani, Zaini, Kelvin Chua, Syazwan and the 2 girls of Zaini and Syazwan. Syazwan was actually my primary schoolmate but he was in a different class than me. Turned out he was in the same class as Hadi! Fuuhhh. Small world lah.
We hung out till about 5.45am talking about our 'army daze', girls, women, ladies and gays?. Sheesh!
What a night that was. Unforgettable.
Anyway, I feel like buying a car. At first I was looking (and fantasizing) at the Audi R8. Taking a 10-year loan and its $500,000 price tag, I calculated it would take $5,100 at least to pay for monthly instalments. That's an atomic bomb for my measly diploma pay!
As I really, really wanted to have a sports coupe. I turned to the Japanese automakers. I've considered Japanese cars before, but after I drove the Mercedes SLK 200 convertible, Continental cars are the way to go!! My dream car would be owning an Maserati GranTurismo S or an Aston Martin DBS. Those are really classy cars, the epitome of luxury-living.
So, I turned to Honda for its world-renowned Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC) engine. I fell in love with the Honda Integra GSR. Love at first sight, really. Its got like everything I ever wanted, springy engine, 2 door sports coupe and able to cruise comfortably in the city. Pretty zippy engine producing about 120 horsepower from a inline-4 cylinder engine.
It makes a pretty flashy sports car for a young 21-year-old. I'm sure the ladies would agree eh? hahah. Its sexiness just really makes me want to love it more than ever! Most probably, I'll love it more than I will ever love a girl! hahah, I'm joking of course.

Sick, Very Sick
I have 2 days of MC thanks to the flu, cough and the fever I had last night. I didn't fast today because I just felt so sick at around 5am.
I went to the family doctor at around 10am after dragging myself out of bed and to take a shower. The doctor took my temperature, gave me MC and after I took my medicine, I dragged myself back home. I ate some rice to fill my stomach and ate my medicine after my meal. What I didn't expect was one of the medicine to be drowsy.
Honestly, I hate medicine. Period. But I haven't got a choice do I?
I was watching the Playhouse Disney channel. Seems like being sick made me feel like a little boy again. At first, there was 'Little Einsteins', 'Handy Manny' and 'Make Way For Noddy'. The latter made me 'nodding' throughout. What with the fan blowing in my face, spells an afternoon nap. But I think its the medicine as I was trying to fight the drowsiness.
I clambered on my bed and my senses just shuts down and I lost conscious face down on the bed. Up till 4pm. I woke up, feeling very numb, somehow, the 4 hours sleep made me feel something. Is it resentment? Or just a feeling of respite? My eyes opened but my mind was staring blank on the ceiling.
A time where I could enjoy the solace of being in solitude. I have to eat my medicine soon. I'm trying my best to recoup and be ready for work tomorrow. I'm not a workaholic, I have nothing to do at home.
Eh, very bored lei stay at home for 24 hours! Think not bored meh? Have MC must stay at home if not can be charged for malingering, AWOL, lying to superior and breach of trust. So its better to go work than having to be holed at home all day. Haiyoh!
But I digress, I'm still sick! GAhhh, driving me beyond nuts!

Moving Out
I've been thinking for a while, I'm thinking of moving out.
(No, not out of my house. duhh.)
I want to shift my blog elsewhere. I do have a spare blog somewhere but I'm thinking. I don't think anyone has got the address yet though.
Oh! Maybe I should buy a domain! Sounds like an idea.
What do you think Angelwing?

Ahlan Wa Sahlan Ya Ramadhan!
Welcome Ramadhan!
Its the start of the fasting month of Ramadhan. I feel somewhat edgy but at the same time glad that I'm able to do fasting again this year.
Everyone's feeling so lethargic at work. And so am I. So its pretty quiet this month. We get to go home at 5pm for Muslim personnel staying far. Not that I'm complaining, its a good measure for people like me staying in Tampines to go home early!
Someone said to me, that I'm the kind who holds to my religion. I was stunned. Let me be clear and concise about this. I am a Muslim who bears true faith and allegiance to Islam. Never will I falter or break away from my belief. That is my resolve. I'm not an alcohol drinker nor am I a smoker. I do not condone any of the acts either.
I quote, "Still waters run deep."
Other than that, things work fine with me.
So! Updates. There's not much to update anyway, I stayed home through the weekends.
The postcards I sent to Saori, Yoko and Kel have already reached their destinations finally. Yoko said she would write to me back. That's nice! I always appreciate things like that.
I'm feeling abit 'out-of-this-world' the past few days. Reason being, I had been combating a flu, fever, and a running nose last week. I felt so sick that I just don't bother doing anything. I wanted report sick but due to shortages of manpower, I'm obliged to work instead. Sigh, the necessities in life far exceeds the importance of health of Man. I think I'm being too selfless. Reason being I don't SELL FISH. =)
Finally, I feel so tired. Demo, ganbatte. 10か月左です! Did I get it right?
I've been picking my Japanese back up recently.
Eh wait, do I always have to wake up at 4.30am to eat? my Mummy used to do that, but since I'm the Army, I wake up at 5.20am instead! muhahahahahaa.

FUUUUUU WEEEEE!
I woke up at 4am, bathed and took a taxi to The Padang and it costed me $21.30!
Yo and I shared the cost of the cab fare which wasn't that bad. The Army Half-Marathon and the Marina Bay Run was held there; starting at the Esplanade Bridge and ending at the Padang.
The first 10km was nothing. The next 4km was fun. The next 4km was tiring. The last 3km I ran on pure adrenaline. The route was, start at Esplanade Bridge, ran through Raffles, went out to the ECP, they closed 2 lanes on the expressway for the run, climbed Benjamin Sheares Bridge, down to Fort Road, down to East Coast Park Carpark C3 which was 10.5km turning point, back down to City, went past the Scenic Combat Engineers Trail to the newly-built Marina Barrage, past Marina South, and back to the Padang.
If there was one word to describe it, DBS. Damn Bloody Shiong.
My run timing was 3 hours and 15 minutes; which means I don't get the 3 days off!!!!! GAHHHHH!!!!!!!!! I was 30 minutes late. That's because I ran alongside the Commanding Officer of Supply Hub East, LTC Koh at the 14km mark. I had a hard time keeping his walking pace. Reason being, his 1 step is equivalent to 3 - 4 steps of mine. But I paced him, eventually jogging to keep up. My socks and my shoes were squishing thanks to the muddy track and the ever gross Padang. The field was very, very muddy!!! GURH. It felt like stepping on shit.
At 16km mark, I had abrasion in between the thighs so now I have to walk like penguin. And its not just me, if I look like a penguin, then the whole bunch of us makes us look like a company of penguins. At the finish line, I managed to get myself 'drunk' drinking bottled water and 100 Plus. My muscles felt very sore by then I thought they were going to burst.
I took the cab home which costed me half the fare and sharing with Yo again. The cabby was telling his experience and all in the Army back in the 1980s. Quite interesting and I kept talking to him but Yo fell asleep. LOL.
The moment I reached home, I took off my shoes, socks, went to the toilet and get wet, and off to sleep! I think I lost weight too.
Experience of a lifetime! Whew. No pictures though, I didn't bring my camera handphone.
I think, never will I run 21km again; at one go. The feeling is insane!
Note to self: I must read more books to improve my writing skills. Somehow, ever since of enlisting in the Army, I noticed my English is somewhat limited and I write like a 15-year-old.

She's Hot But She's Not
I want to find a girl who's complex. Maybe I've changed. It used to be, a simple-minded girl who strives her best to live out her life.
I want a challenge. I need a challenge, someone who is really worth the effort.
And yet exudes the style and charm. What are my choices really? I don't think I have a liking for Singaporean girls. They're too......... not complex enough. But then again, what are my choices eh.
Okay, I have this sudden urge to just sleep. BYE!

Cheerry Day
Today, I'm having off! Finally, time to relax and take a breather from work.
I've still got 1 day of off day from National Day and 1 more day for the upcoming Army Half-Marathon happening this coming Sunday. We don't get much of off day compared to other vocations, so we try to grab whatever 'sai kang' work we can do.
This is the reality of my line of work.
So in any case, I met 'Little-Miss-Cherry' to get the keychain that I was supposed to take not-very-long-ago (since March. *cough*). It's a cute one. I think she's getting prettier too! ha ha ha ha. But its just me. Compliments courtesy of myself.
mes compliments s’il vous plaît.
(sounds so cheem but then it means my compliments to you. i doubt my french is bad so there.)
And I like collecting keychains. Its just a like thing, not very hardcore. Oh and bookmarks! Is it because I used to read alot? I used to read many books when I'm still in secondary school. Bookworm? No lah, BookBird. Worm sounds so wrong can? I wonder who came up with such words.
Since I'm driving, I left Temasek Polytechnic and went to fetch my sister from school.
The fact is that my stomach is feeling very queasy since morning. It had the urge of expunging my breakfast upon leaving TP. And currently as I'm typing this, its still growling and churning. I hastily parked the car at a lot on B1 and walked briskly to my block and upon entering the house, I swung both my bags to the floor and got undressed in my uniform and boots within 20 seconds. (I counted. schwing!!) The rest is pure exhilarating.
There is no other thing that comes close when you're relieving yourself in an emergency.
That said, I'm going to sleep soon to recover my sanity after last week's onslaught of chocolate indulgence at Fullerton, Neon Outing and Yayasan Mendaki Graduate's Tea at Suntec Convention. I'll get to that most probably in the next post.
Until then. Adios!!!

Hot Weather Programme
Its been 3 weeks since the hot weather programme started for the year. I find it strange though; it shouldn't be really that hot at this time of the year.
I have this throbbing pain at the back of my head since morning so it was quite obvious I was quite moody today. I didn't really had much thought for the day but I went through.
Maybe I will have a long holiday in October when the puasa month finishes. I also plan to go fishing in October. Once I get my fishing rod back up. I have about 11 days leave and 2 days of off to clear by year end.
Oh, me and my NS buddies are planning a trip to Bangkok at the end of the year. We're going off backpacking!! woohooo!
About 8 of us hopefully.
Me, Sudiani, Fadhlullah, Thomas, Fang Tao, Sharil, Firdaus and Poon Yan.
On poking fun at the on-going Beijing Olympics, the whole lot of us were watching the 200m women's semifinal 1 the other day, and the British came in first in the heats. Out of randomness, Fang Tao claimed, "The British could swim so well, that's why they ended up in an island!"
The laughter was priceless I tell you. Out of nowhere, we burst out laughing.
The whole day, sometimes, we watched the Beijing Olympics. From women's weightlifting, to synchronised diving to aesthetic gymnastics to swimming to women's hockey to table tennis to badminton.
Its inevitable since our camp, "Bo cheng hu". No government. So we 'hoo-ray, hoo-ray'. If you get my gist.
I need some rest. Really. Standing out in the sun for 4 hours is really a killer. I'm not tan anymore in fact. I'm burnt and black! Overcooked. We're like slow-cooking ourselves out in the sun. We're feeling the heat man! Not really funny when we're just really standing out and see people just laughing at us because they work in the aircon and we don't.
Sometimes people ask us, why not stand in the shade?
We reply, it is our duty to protect the camp and we do it with hardwork, dedication and foremostly, PRIDE.
I wrote on the board for everyone to read, "I will overcome adversity with my fighting spirit."
atsui na!!!!!! atsui atsui atsui!! ii janai yo!! hontou ni atsui!!

Post NDP Debriefing
I spent most of today recovering back my sanity (a.k.a sleeping) in preparation for work this coming week.
Marcus was kind enough to send me and Chee Wei to Sengkang in his Volvo. Really a nice and spacious car with lots of power. 2.6 litres.
Initially we had wanted to share a cab back and he was staying at Bedok. We took 27 instead back to Tampines and I trudged my way back home on foot. For once I had felt again that fatigue. The feeling I last felt when I was still a Trainee at the School of Infantry Specialists.
I clearly remembered one of our instructors saying, "As long as you have not fainted, or you're not dead yet, I don't want to see any of you fall out! Understood?!"
As newly promoted Privates from Basic Military Training Centre, we were somewhat afraid of what might happen if we didn't do what we were supposed to do.
The most tired, most fittest time of a soldier's life could be found in SISPEC. 3 months training to be a Corporal. gahhh~
What most soldiers take to train for 2 years, we are trained within 10 weeks.
And the stories go on and on. That's what I like about combat. Tired because of training, but when I think back, its funny and most women like hearing Army stories. haha! =P
Oh, and about doing duty on our National Day. The fireworks looked so nice!
この花火はきれいな。
I've always liked fireworks. =)
It reminds me of a someone and how colourful the sky can be when its filled with fireworks.

My Country, My Home

First things first, it's Yoko's birthday today! I believe its her 22nd. It comes naturally with time.
Anyway, in about 2 hours time, I would be out of my house and on the way back to camp for duty. Guard duty as you might've guessed.
Not easy to get guard duty on a National Day but well, I'm doing my service, so there, no complaints. Basically then, we are the unsung heroes.
Yesterday, I was selected to be part of my Unit's NDP Observance Parade as one of the flag party escort. With our rifles, we marched smartly to the flagpole and 'hormat senjata' while the flag is going up. It brings back memories of my childhood days on hearing the National Anthem.
It was a memorable moment. For me at least.
I love my country. You know?
Its part of being the soldier psyche. We do whatever we am supposed to do. And our job is to protect against external as well as internal threats.
But for now at least, I hope it'll be a peaceful night. I'm not coming home tonight because I'm serving my country.
Happy 43rd Birthday, Singapore. =)

Report Alpha-Kilo
Nothing to report. What else is new eh?
How many days have it been since I last logged in to the computer? Probably 3 days.
I'd have to guess it wouldn't take very long before I'm just too tired to bathe.
Well, there's bad news and there's even more bad news.
Bad news first. I have lesser and lesser time to sleep.
The even more bad news, I'll be doing duty at my camp on the 9th of August.
Its called, 'Serving My Country With Pride'.
I love my country, I am a patriot. Lest those who governed this country has ruined it somehow.
So for all of you who is going and will enjoy the fireworks display, please don't forget the men and women behind protecting the peace of our homeland.
Other than the 2 days off I've yet to clear, I'm going to stay at home and sleep like a babi (I would've known pigs don't sleep all day) on the weekdays and I'm going to Fullerton Hotel for the chocolate buffet again the next weekend with not 1, not 2 but 3 (spelt three) lovely ladies!!
SCORE! 3 dates at once. oooooooo....... mmmmmm...........
They just couldn't resist my charms but I beg to differ. The bill's on me and I have to get a car. (James Bond anyone?)
Alright, time to sleep. I've still got to prepare tomorrow's stuff. So technically, good night people!

Choices & Decisions
I told you we sure kena NDP sai kang.
We're having some parade in camp and we'll have to put up flags up at lamp posts and do some fancy decoration. I formerly name my squad, 'The Condemned Squad'.
However, we are entitled to not run the 16km training run at East Coast Park in the afternoon. woohooo!!! *celebration dance*
In exchange of doing some off-duty work.
Anyway, I was thinking earlier on in the day.
Which kind of career would you pick your spouse from?
My personal choices are:
1) Doctor
2) Nurse
3) Teacher
4) Designer (on the contrary.) -__-
5) Singer
Doctor. For obvious reasons, they can take care of me when I'm sick. Medical benefits unless she's working for gynae department which I can't really benefit from. *duh-uh*
Nurse. The best of all worlds. Same reason as above. If any better, she's a Staff Nurse.
Teacher. Able to teach the kids and for the kids to boast, "My mummy is a teacher!".
Designer. Simply put; she's able to design that dream house.
Singer. Able to sing me and the children to sleep. Abit straightforward but I like it when people sing me to sleep. My mum used to sing me to sleep when I was a baby. There was this song I remembered vividly even though I was around kindergarten 1. Now, big baby liao so must sing like Ayumi Hamasaki.
Pretty one-sided affair huh?
But that's just me.
So, we have the wants and now, we have the dont's.
Which kind of career would you not pick a spouse from?
1) Lawyer
2) Accountants / Cashiers
3) Wrestlers / Bodybuilders
4) Pornstars
5) Policewomen
Lawyer. She studied law, she practices law, she knows the law. She is the law.
Accountants / Cashiers. Every expense is accounted for. She leaves little room for discrepancies which makes buying that sports car or bike a little bit more elusive.
Wrestlers / Bodybuilders. Self-explanatory. No fights allowed in the house unless she has some strength-limiting device like those speed-limiters they install in cars.
Pornstars. I don't want to meet a stranger on the streets and he starts saying, "Eh, is that your wife? Familiar face ah?!........."
Policewomen. Same as lawyer except she's the weapon of the law. I don't want to be caught with my pants down.
---
I do not have any prejudices against the above-abovementioned. Just giving it my one-cents worth. However, I have this strong feeling that my spouse would be a designer.
GWAHHAHAHAHA! Just a feeling. Sixth sense. Unless I want to make it happen. I so love a Japanese-themed house!

Guns Of The Patriots
I am seriously exhausted.
But I love my country. I am a patriot you see.
About the mobilisation thing, its where you'll see a green guy flashing on your TV screens and hear on the radio with 4 code words which correspond to the different units in the SAF. That signifies the time when the soldiers from the units report back to base within 2 hours.
I spent... no.
WE spent two 'meaningful' weekend days at home just waiting for someone to push the button to activate the units.
Life is never easy for a combatant. NEVER. We got used to words like, 'lan lan, suck thumb' , 'sai kang' and 'what's your rank soldier?!'.
---
I, am a Specialist in the Singapore Armed Forces.
With pride, I lead.
I excel in my field, ensure the discipline of my men,
and their mission readiness.
I overcome adversity with my fighting spirit.
I, will defend Singapore, WITH MY LIFE!!!
'The Specialist Creed'
---
From what I feel, Specialists are as capable as officers. There's no doubt about it. You don't have to be a genius to hold a pen and paper but it certainly takes skill and courage to wield a weapon and fight.
Specialists are the glue of any combat company. We are the bond between officers and men. At all times, we are to uphold our conduct and discipline but at the same time be close to our men and still maintain respect as their section commander.
Do you think its an easy job?
The pay doesn't justify for the job we are doing.
*shrugs off and sigh*
Its just another hard day at work.
I always remind myself.
"Rank is what you wear.
Appointment is what you hold.
Respect is what you earn."

Just For Laughs
I was looking through the pictures that were on my external hard drives.
Old pictures dating back since Secondary 3, my polytechnic days, research materials to secondary school girl crushes. But what tickles me the most is a string of pictures labeled "Ah Guas" tucked away in the Pictures folder.

NOTE: This post is a 'bo liao' post because I've got nothing to do on a weekend that's meant for me to wait for mobilisation. More about mobilisation in the next post. Apart from that, I cannot guarantee the authenticity of the pictures posted below. Any inconveniences caused is terribly regretted. And lastly, I do not encourage or condone any acts of the abovementioned.

I'm having a flu and a slight fever.

My Finger
I'm tired.
Its only been 2 days but it felt like 2 years. Doing duty on a weekend is pure energy-draining. I've sustained a gash on my right hand at the last finger. I could see my flesh! That's disgusting. My buddy went like, "Eh dude, you ok or not? can or not?".
I told him, "Eh dude, my finger lah. Don't worry. It's all good."
But in actual fact it was painful. I could see a few epithelial layers were peeled off from my skin. I washed it and applied antiseptic cream and put on a bandage plaster.
But seriously, I feel very lethargic. I've got almost no energy left. I feel like lying down and just sleep the night away.
For 48 hours, I wore,
1 pair of no. 4 uniform
1 pair of briefs
1 pair of boots
1 pair of socks
1 brown admin shirt
---
To add to the list, I forgot to bring my toiletries. Suck thumb, go home with the current condition. It was nothing new really as were my SISPEC days.
5 days without bathing, brushing teeth and clean toilets.
Like what they always say, "SAF TOILETS ARE EVERYWHERE IN GREENLAND!!"
Greenland = Jungle or forest or any land that is green.
---
When will this end?!!!!
11 more months to Operationally-Ready Date!
and back to school.
i'm going to Nanyang Technological University. =)

Work Hard, Sleep Harder! (FOR INFANTRY SOLDIERS ONLY)
It's coming to the end of the month, I have to literally lock myself away from the computer. As bad as it is, sometimes I don't even feel like switching on the computer much less looking at the unreplied messages on my phone.
I just feel like...... SLEEPING, EVERYDAY.
Some brigade turning to ops phase at the end of the month. More duties.
Haven't finish this job, another one starting. Life is very erratic and I admit I look like a person who only sleeps 4 hours a day; everyday.
All that '7 hours of sleep' question they ask everyday before physical activity?
Where got such thing as 7 hours of sleep in the Army?!
I cannot rest well till end of August, when the AHM is done too. If never train for the run, sign 3 extra duties everytime. So, you could say we are running for our weekend freedom.
Guard duty this coming Sunday.
i
am
so
exhausted.
HELP!!!

Thank You
Mariah Carey - Thank God I Found You
---
I would give up everything
Before I'd separate myself from you
After so much suffering
I finally found unvarnished truth
I was all by myself
For the longest time
So cold inside
And the hurt from the heartache
Would not subside
I felt like dying
Until you saved my life
Thank God I found you
I was lost without you
My every wish and every dream
Somehow became reality
When you brought the sunlight
Completed my whole life
I'm overwhelmed with gratitude
Cause baby, I'm so thankful
I found you
I would give you everything
There's nothing in this world
I wouldn't do
To ensure your happiness
I'll cherish every part of you
Cause without you beside me
I can't survive
I don't want to try
If you're keeping me warm
Each and every night
I'll be alright
Cause I need you in my life
Thank God I found you
I was lost without you
My every wish and every dream
Somehow became reality
When you brought the sunlight
Completed my whole life
I'm overwhelmed with gratitude
Cause baby, I'm so thankful
I found you
See, I was so desolate
Before you came to me
Looking back I guess
It shows that we were
Destined to shine
After the rain
To appreciate
The gift of what we have
And I'd go through it all over again
To be able to feel this way
Thank God I found you
I was lost without you
My every wish and every dream
Somehow became reality
When you brought the sunlight
Completed my whole life
I'm overwhelmed with gratitude

A Divided Addition Plus The Minus
As I precariously entered her house, I gave Melanie the bouquet of tulips I bought back at the florist in the nearby town center. She seemed to be shimmering in the moonlight beckoning me into her abode.
"Mel, what's for dinner? I'm starved." I asked nonchalently.
She didn't reply me as she put the flowers down by the armchair. Instead, she went up to me and hugged me.
"I missed you.... so much...." she cried while softly beating me with a loosely-clenched fist.
"Mel, come on, don't cry okay? Everything's okay now. We'll talk over dinner okay?" I tried my best to calm her down while wiping her tears from her delicate cheeks.
Melanie was clad in the silver DKNY evening dress that I bought for her during our 5th month anniversary. I couldn't have much thought of buying it because it looked so good on her back then. I think she had gained some weight especially on her tummy but I didn't want mention anything about it.
She was on the emotional side of a woman's world that men like me couldn't understand. She had a rather unfavourable vice that I had disliked; she always keeps quiet about problems that she had. She bottles it up and the pressure just keeps on piling. Its like you take a Coke bottle and shake it vigourously and when you pop it open, it explodes with power. I didn't like that in a girl.
Over dinner, Melanie had cooked my favourite dish, grilled salmon. Along with Chablis white wine from France. She relented to give me apple juice instead. She wasn't the cheerful girl I've come to know throughout our 2 years of courtship. Melanie's expression looked gloomy.
"Mel, it was nice of you to invite me over for dinner, since your parents are away I could stay up quite late. Tell me..... Is something bothering you?", I said breaking the ice first.
Melanie didn't reply.
She snuggled up next to me on the couch with her head resting against my body. I had my arm over her shoulders. As she flicked through the cable channels, I asked in a more subtle manner.
"So how's school been going? You met new friends in your class?"
Still, no reply.
Again, I tried asking, "Melanie.... let's have dessert while we're watching TV. Okay dear?"
It doesn't make any sense at all really. She turned to me and smiled delightfully, "Sure! I'll go get some from the freezer. Wait a minute okay darling?"
Like I said, "emotionally confusing".
It is as if our relationship was still going. Its as if we didn't broke up. She came back to the couch with some chocolates. These were the same heart-shaped chocolates she got for me on our 1st month anniversary. On the chocolates, there were engraved words like 'Forever', 'I Love You', 'Always' etc.
And she fed me one.
"Zaini, I've got something to tell you. Its very important.", she said in a firm tone.
"Yes?" I answered.
"I'm missing my period for about 2 months now. I think I'm pregnant."
My mind went completely numb.
"Are you SURE!? Did you check with the doctor?" I hastily replied.
"No. Not yet." she figured.
"If I am pregnant, will you marry me then?", Melanie continued.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. She had stunned me with her nonchalent attitude and now this!

Ruzaini, The Designer
Okay, today I will finally admit that I am a designer.
We had an ExCo (Executive Committee), name sounds good but its actually 'kena arrow', meeting for the upcoming Racial Harmony Day. Thank God I'm not involved in the NDP this year. I'll be super busy for this month and the next due to do Mobilisation Manning at end of July and Racial Harmony Day on the 18th. For August would be some NDP 'sai kang' and the 21km Army Half-Marathon run on the 24th. In September, puasa month will kick in.
Together with my colleague, we're in charge of planning, organising and executing the events for the Malay side. Currently, we have a wedding-play, silat martial arts showcase and some performace by a 'kompang' group.
BSM: Ruzaini is a designer right? Very good designer right? What diploma did you take in Poly?
Me: Erm, I took an I.T diploma ah Sir. Mobile & Wireless Computing.
BSM: Ah, OK lah, same also what.
The Rest: Khe khe khe khe khe. (chuckling)
Me: Liao, liao, liao, liao, liao. Ho say.
---
I wasn't hit by an arrow. I was hit by a sniper rifle instead, right between the eyes.
Why art again? Why?!
Furthermore, me and Thomas have to finalise the 3 posters by end of the week!
That's not all, I still need to find some musical score that I need to give Thomas so he could play it on his Chinese instrument. If only they let me play with the synthesizer, that would be cheating. =P
I'm just tired that I just don't feel like going out. I just want to have a good, long rest; how about say a month??! When I get out of my uniform, my energy just dissipates. I switch on my air-con and fan. Lie down on the fluffy bed. KNOCKED OUT. Happened to me quite often.
Then, I got to sleep soon. my bed is calling. I hate Mondays because its the starting of the week.
Ja, oyasumi na!

Band Of Brothers
I spent a good portion of the day sleeping.
After yesterday's 14km run at East Coast Park, I took a taxi back home. The thing about running is, once its past the 10km mark, everything just seems so far away. I have mixed feelings about running that far for that matter.
I watched the midnight movie, Hancock, at Tampines GV with Ben, Hadi and Yasser. A nice movie too.
After the movie, we took a cab down to Simpang Bedok to get some food in our stomachs. And after that, we played DOTA at the nearby LAN gaming shop at 2am!!
It has been quite a while since I last played DOTA. The game I badly sucked in my history of gaming.
Another friend joined in the fray, we called him Bird. hahah!
Can you imagine after a day of physical activity. I felt numb. I fell asleep on several occasions when the battle gets boring. We played till daylight at 8am.
I think its more tiring than field camp!
I'm going to back to sleep now. Thanks!
Thanks!

To A Very Special Lady, With Love
If i could say something to you. It would be.....
Dear ______, you are the most special person in my world. You have given me happiness that I could never have imagined. Without you, my life would be meaningless. I want you to know that there's nothing in this world I wouldn't give up just to be with you. Everyday, I look forward to your sweet voice, your sweet smile and your sweet smell in the morning. ______, I will cherish you for as long as i live.

Coba kau katakan apa yang kau inginkan
Apa yang kau butuhkan telah aku berikan
Coba kau katakan apa yang kau inginkan

Anyway, something random that happened to me while on the way home from work.
I was in military uniform wearing a jockey cap. I was walking down the slope down by my block when this small girl in K1 or K2, she went up to me and said, "Hello!!" enthusiastically. I smiled and replied "Hello!" back. The little girl seemed excited to see me for some reason. Such a cutie, ahhh, I want a daughter.....
Talk about charms, sheesh!
The other day, I asked one of the juniors. I joked, "Hey, can I be your boyfriend?"
and she said, "You? my boyfriend?... NO! you're not boyfriend material, you're more husband material. If you had asked me to marry you, I'd be damn happy to be married to you."
Now what's that supposed to mean?! I'm not complaining.
She added, "Actually, I think you'd have problems finding girlfriends, but I think you'll have lots of wives."
One is enough, please. =)
Anyway, I've thought of a name. ummm, wanna hear?
Siti Nur Alyssa Binte Md Ruzaini
Modern name too. i like it.
Or or or or!
watashi no tsuma ni nihonjin. watashi no musume no namae wa
Nur Shahidah Tomoko Binte Md Ruzaini
Siti Sakura Shahidah Binte Md Ruzaini; "S cube."
It sounds weird with the japanese combination. I'll let my missus choose so long its meaningful.
Time check, 12:55am. I've gotta wake up at 5am man. There's a point in time during NS, when you've not had enough sleep, and you think, SCREW IT, its Friday, I can sleep on Saturday.
14km training run at East Coast Park! ganbatte ne! its tiring, i can tell you that. i'm a long distance runner by the way.
Good Night!

i've yet to serve my 2 extra duties. 2 weekends gone. just...like...that...
my mind's in a mess right now. i'd guess my room reflects of my mind. its like a warzone. Racial Harmony Day coming up with CO evening.
AHM training's getting crazy. now we've to run at East Coast Park every Friday. my timing for 12km run is 1 hour and 20 minutes which is SLOW! and why? because i came in with one of the last few. next training will be 14km which i intend to clock at around 1 hour and 15 minutes.
that's in a nutshell, i've to go sleep now. i only clocked 3 hours of sleep last night and it looks like i'm going to clock only 4 more hours tonight.
i love you baby. =)

My Japanese Date
I met Saori yesterday at the airport. She was on a 15-hour transit trip back to Japan from Sweden after spending 10 months in a University there.
I almost couldn't recognise her because she's lost like quite alot of weight since she went to Sweden! She called me in the morning to say that she had landed and had went out of the transit area and waiting at the arrival hall.
I was supposed to meet her at 10am and thought I could sleep longer than my 5am routine. So we went to the car lot and maybe I thought maybe we could go eat breakfast but oh!
The wonders of a long-haul flight, you'll have jet lag. So she asked me, "Can I come over to your place to rest a while?"
And I thought, well okay, since maybe she just wanted to sit down and relax till she's all good. I called my Mum and told her I was coming back home with a friend and I didn't say who. Neither did I know what she meant by 'resting'. honestly.
When we did finally reach my house, she introduced herself to my Mum and my sisters. wah seh, like want to get married that kind but she's the open-minded type, thankfully.
"Hello, I'm Saori, nice to meet you~"
and I'm like, "MY SISTERS ARE SHY." hahahaha. =P
to tell you honestly, only a few of my friends have been to my room, much less sleep in it!
I really didn't expect she would ask me.....,
"Zaini, could I sleep in your room for a while?"
*sweat*
a boy's room will always be messy but I took the effort to actually clean it a few days ago so I'm pretty much saved.
and yes, she slept in my room for about a few hours. she looked so awfully tired when i met her at the airport; at least she felt better after sleeping..
my Mum asked me, "Where is she from? She's from Thailand?"and I said, "No, she's Japanese."
Funny how I couldn't get a Singaporean girl home but managed to get a Japanese girl instead.
I took her to walk around Vivocity. She's a really interesting person, the thing I like about Japanese people is they are not afraid to express their feelings. Everytime she's sees something cute, she'll go like, "Ahh!! Zaini, mitteru, kawaii ne!!!~"
I think she's cute. haha. =)
and the sales people will give us a quizzical look and I'll save her by replying, "Oh, don't mind, we're just browsing."
She admitted that she's attracted to things that are shiny. Which explains why we end spending about 20 minutes at shops selling earrings. She's OBSESSED with earrings. haha.
She: What do you think? Is it nice?
Me: Ummm..... nice nice. it looks good on you.
She: Really? But which one should I choose? Which one is nicer?
Me: Buying both would solve that problem. =D
Sometimes, we go to shops and the sales people will be asking her instead of me. I wonder why. Is it because women have more influence on her man's spending power?
And they'll ask her in Chinese and Saori will just nod her head and will turn to me and give me the confused look. cutie~ =)
After taking our lunch at Food Republic, we walked around Vivocity and decided to go Sentosa too; by taking the cable car. It's my second time, and.... I'm still scared of it. I'm not afraid of heights, I'm afraid that the cable car might become stuck in the middle and the cable car would drop. LOL.
I watch too much cartoons lah!
When we reached Sentosa, we went to Siloso Beach to take a stroll by the beach and eating Ben & Jerry's ice cream cones while the sun was setting and the cool breeze.
*Cheh, so romantic right?* =P
And she told me, "Singaporean boys and girls mix well together unlike in Japan where there are no gender mixing socially in school or outside."
Interesting note.
After that, we went to see the "big, big Merlion" as she had described it. Ever since she touched down at the airport, she kept saying, "I wanna see the Merlion, I wanna see it!! Can we go and see it?!" I complied of course!
We got along pretty well. I took her to Bugis Street Market to shop for souvenirs and to eat Thai food at Siam Kitchen. After all the shopping, I had to send her back to the airport for her 11pm check-in.
In the car at the airport carpark, she gave me some stuff for me and my sisters that she brought from Japan. She wrote me a postcard with a map of Japan on the back and she gave me a Lego keychain which was pretty cute.
At the gate, we hugged.....for two minutes or so. it was such a long time since I hugged someone that long and her head just barely reaching above my shoulders. In that spur-of-the-moment, I whispered to her ear, "I promise to visit you in Japan when I finish my military service next year."
OK, fine, since I'm going alone anyway. She would be in Osaka by then too. Or maybe her hometown in Fukuoka.

Play Time!!
I've not been blogging for the past week.
Do you know; laziness is the epitome of tiredness. whatever that means.
I've had it with work. work, work, work, work. I'll not blog about work for some time to come.
Yesterday night, Kenneth and Lemuel dropped at my place to get some game from the PS3 Online Store. Apparently, Burnout Paradise was amazing and Assassin's Creed is the after-work bashing game. Kenneth tried to get his hands on Resistance: Fall Of Man with a duel with me.
It was a one-sided fragfest unfortunately. like hey c'mon, I'm ranked Captain online. hah!
Okay fine, I did have the playtime to brag.
Maybe I should look for more playmates. Playing single-player games are boring.

My Girl Next Door
The Girl Next Door.
Most guys are familiar with the term describing the ideal girl who doesn't lives next door; however hard we prayed and wished she would.
If you have been to some serious parties, one would notice the uber pretty, wild girls patronising the joints. Naturally, us guys will look out for that flirtatious smile, that sexy dance moves and a 'killer' body to match.
Who Is The Girl Next Door?
Let's define her!
Ultimately, it come with terms of our mature instincts such as being naturally pretty, a demure lass with an ideal life of marriage, children and tender love. Once established, we focus on the more finer points that she has come to nurture after years of parental guidance.
Each and every guy has his set of guideline to define his version of the girl-next-door. Generally, she's the girl that you would admire from from a distance and would afraid to approach fearing the consequences would affect the almost perfect ideal of a woman unspoiled by other men that you've come to know.
In a way, you could put it this way;
Say, your sister's best friend when you were young. In your immaculate mind, she's always that 10-year-old cutie who always accompanies you during play time. Only, when you meet up 10 years later, she's still a cutie but all-grown up and you could really connect up to many more levels because of the trust that was built up since then.
What Do We Like About Her?
She's a homebody. She's able to care for the house; cooks, cleans and is capable of bringing in life to the household. She's someone who's not afraid to stay in the house. She thinks that going out often is not the only way of keeping entertained and thinks that potentially, staying indoors does enhance the relationship.
She has family values. She believes in the importance of family. She does not stray far from the character upbringing of herself and her children. Because of this, she always try to do her best as the role of a daughter to her parents, wife to her husband and mother to her children.
She's sweet and alluring. Not by putting on layers of makeup, she's able to project her beauty flawlessly. She doesn't want to flaunt either but dress casually and lightly and make herself as seamless to the world as water in the air. She understands your needs and is prepared to care for you when you're sick. Her sweet demeanor - and knowing that what goes around, comes around - makes you want to be with her and take care of her in turn.
She's low maintenance. However good it might be to dress to impress, she always thinks that jeans and a t-shirt are fashionable and is good enough for a stroll in town. But, when the occasion calls for it, she will dress to the nines. A point to note that you don't have to always buy her presents to keep her on the toes. A simple message which says, "Good morning" or a "Good night" would remind her that you are always thinking of her.
She's predictable and safe. What you see is what you get. You always know where you stand with her. Period. There's almost no guesswork and that's a welcome change from all the dates that played mindgames with you before.
My version of the girl next door.

This girl right here.
Just the girl you want to show your parents to.
Just the girl you want to spend your afternoons with.
Just the girl you would want to cuddle with on the sofa.
Just the girl you would like to cook dinner with.
Just the kind of girl I want to settle down with and raise children with.
She's just the perfect girl.
---
I believe my sense of direction with girls are true to the point that looks play an important factor for me to choose a life partner. Let's face it; all of us has some vices that we don't want others to know.
I am but a normal person. What do I know?

My Secret Identity
truth is, i can't sleep.
listening to Come Clean (Chris Cox Remix) by Hilary Duff.
its the morning of 19th May. its Vesak Day!
well, i've been feeling under the weather for the past 2 days. i had running nose and coughing. must've been the weather.
Saturday afternoon i went to my ex-classmate's engagement invitation. gosh, she looks so pretty in the wedding dress. there was Hadi, Fairuz, Hafiz, Helfi, Zul and Shahira. it was good seeing them again too after a long, long while. Zul and Hafiz have yet to enlist in the Army. Shahira's a secondary school teacher at Bedok Green Sec if i'm not mistaken. when she saw me, she was like, "Eh Zaini!!!, you look like a Japanese ah..."
haha, i wished.
well, come to think of it, i've always been thought of a Chinese. the clever ones will ask first, "Are you a Chinese?".
the smarter ones are able to see through my accent; but what's the difference anyway.
i've said to many people that i don't have any Chinese ancestry. then, the next question, "Then, how come you've got fair skin?"
answer to that is my paternal side are descendants from Thailand. my grandfather was Thai, he converted. last i've seen him was like 3 - 4 years ago. that was the first time since i was in kindergarten. after kindergarten, i didn't see him for like until i was in polytechnic. that's like what?; 14 years!
from what i know he was from Thailand and came down to Singapore after the second world war. he converted and married my grandmother.
my maternal side comes from Bawean or infinitely known as 'Boyan'. its a part of Indonesia. its a very unique clan of people i think. nowadays, rarely you'll find people with 'Boyanese' race on their IC. their language is very unique too and not many people nowadays can really understand it. my maternal side has got a huge family tree. my grandmother has got 12 siblings, including my grandmother, that makes it 13 children. that's like woah can.
check this out on Wikipedia, Bawean and Malays in Singapore.
so what makes me then? Thai and Indonesian? ROJAK LAH!. not just any rojak, ROJAK Indon-Thai tau. hahah!
i'm still lousy at maths anyway.
and i still declare myself generally as a Malay. that's what i say when asked but i'll tell abit more if they're willing to listen.
i've got relatives scattered around the archipelago so it might seem.
language wise, i couldn't help but give a pass. i know certain phrases in Boyanese (bad ones, of course.) and basic Thai conversation skills which i had learnt during my 3-month stint as an intern in Bangkok, Thailand.
that, is my history. =)

my maternal side comes from Bawean or infinitely known as 'Boyan'. its a part of Indonesia. its a very unique clan of people i think. nowadays, rarely you'll find people with 'Boyanese' race on their IC. their language is very unique too and not many people nowadays can really understand it. my maternal side has got a huge family tree. my grandmother has got 12 siblings, including my grandmother, that makes it 13 children. that's like woah can.
check this out on Wikipedia, Bawean and Malays in Singapore.
so what makes me then?

I'm Feeling Artsy...
okay. okay. okay.
i've got to do some rearranging work in the guard house and since when am i a designer?!?!?!?!!!!
why won't art just escape from my life?!?!?!?!
is it my destiny or something that i have to stick with art all through my life?!!?
nursery; art.
primary school; more art.
secondary; even more art.
polytechnic; even more advanced art (3D).
army; DESIGNER / ARTIST!?
and the best part is..... art isn't my best subject!
i can't draw, well, i can if i wanted to. i hate drawing. my hands can't draw; not as well as i hoped, too. but then again!
our SM (Sergeant Major) came down to the guard house today to look at the new partition they've built up. so he was looking, and said, "Maybe it'll look better if you rearrange it. ok, come Zaini, you're a designer right? ok, you think of a way to solve this in a way that the rack is covered. then think of a way to how to assemble the table and put it somewhere where it is useful."
i gave him a smirk, and said, "Yes Sir!"
in my heart, i said, "Balls to me. tio liao loh."
it doesn't sound like much till you've seen the amount of furniture there is. easier said than done. i think after my NS days, i'll be able to build a house by my own hands.
anyway, in the afternoon, when me and Fadhlullah was taking our lunch rations, it was raining heavily. the land rover came, i got on the support to climb in the back of the rover. my left boot slipped! i fell off the vehicle, my lowest rib smashed into the corner of the protruding edge. literally, smashed my rib and the side of my leg was slammed against it. there was a sharp pain at first, i opened my mouth but there was no sound coming out because the pain was too unbearable and i fell to the ground. after a while, i picked myself up.
Fadh was like, "Eh dude, are you okay? that was one s*** whack you got."
i got a nasty abrasion mark there. honestly, i'm telling you, it hurts like crazy whenver i press the wound.
at the end of the day, i'm still as tired. all i think is to get home, have a hot dinner, bathe and go to sleep. i don't even think of eating out. i'm just so tired. sounds like a normal typical office job.
but mind you! i'm in the infantry vocation. being tired is normal.
okay, time to sleep!!!

Monday Blues...
i'm so tired. i'm so tired. really i am. i slept on the bus back home.
tomorrow is yet to come. i'm so really tired. really i am.
i'm tired of travelling between work and home. but what can i do?
we ran 4.8km and we had gone to the gym. by afternoon, it was to drag time till fall-out parade at 6.30pm.
and i got to wake up at 5am tomorrow! which i normally won't and will shut the alarm and go back to sleep and be late.
i'm just so tired right now, i've not showered yet, i could just lie down on my bed and sleep and i couldn't care less about eating dinner.
i feel like just, sleeping.
good night world.

HQ Cohesion Day
last Friday, we had our cohesion activity at East Coast Park.
we were told to gather at Marine Cove's Mcdonalds at 9am but it only started at 9.40am. some of them were rather late because of traffic jams like this Staff Sergeant, she lived in Woodlands, she gave the taxi driver $50 for the fare and got back $2 change so you get the idea of how much the fare was. $48!! insane.
anyway, pictures! ummm...

Fadhlullah and me at the McDonald's waiting. can you see that my forehead has an uneven tan?!
a part of it is white! hahah. i look funny.

now this, after walking to the games point for about 20 minutes, we arrived at the spot marked by white tape. here we're supposed to play a game called 'Dog & Bone'.
the game goes like this:
i was teamed up with our lovely S4; Captain Choo, BSM; Warrant Lam, Warrant Saras and Master Kawthaman.
but we lost anyway, obviously. because i was the young blood in the team and they all depended on me to drive the team forward and honestly, other teams were better. S1's; Captain Marcus's team won eventually because he had a far younger team.
after the games, we had our lunch at Indian Times at the former Big Splash.

it was like a mini barbeque! the food was full of spices though. i can't really comment on the food, Indian food is one of my least favourite food.
and finally, the picture taking sessions after we had filled our bellies.

i can't deny how full of myself i was at that moment. hahah!

well, he's my fellow RP at work.

all the RPs excluding Sharil because he was on duty.
from bottom left, Thomas, Poon Yan, Fadhullah, Me, Fang Tao
from upper left, Ridwan and our BSM, Warrant Lam.
after lunch, we were dismissed at around 1.30pm.
i wanted to get home early so i could rest. but NOOOOOO.
those guys tempted me with football. haha!
how could i refuse?
a game by the beach which was so windy and under the hot sun.
the problem was, i was wearing jeans with double layer of black clothes. bad choice.
what i did was to fold up my jeans till mid-calf, took off one of my clothes as my inner tshirt was the thin material type and it was tight-fitting.
we played for about an hour on the grass patch which made my jeans felt like i was wearing three jeans because i was sweating.
i took the cab home.

the game goes like this:
- There's 5 players in each team.
- Each player is numbered 1 to 5.
- When a number is called by the umpire, the designated players run towards the middle and bring back a wooden block to the team's base.
- If a player brings back the wooden block back to base without any contact by the opposing team scores!
- However, if the opponent does manage to touch the person holding the wooden block, the point goes to the opponent.
- First team to get 5 points WIN!
